Netflix Movie Fans

For those of you that don't know, autoFlix is an app that when installed, will autoPlay the next episode in a series when an episode finishes.

I've been hard at work making autoFlix compatible with all computers and resolutions.

Since I have a limited amount of machines to test on, I'd like to start a thread where users can post if autoFlix isn't working, then upload a screenshot of their Netflix screen(with the "Play next episode" button showing) with their resolution.

You can also post if it is working with the default options.

I appreciate anyone who takes the time to do this, and hopefully it will lead to a better Netflix experience for everyone.

How to take a screenshot.

Troubleshooting:

  • One point that wowee123 made is that the "zoom" of the browser effects the size of the buttons. So if at first autoFlix isn't working, try pressing Ctrl+0 to reset it to the defaults.
  • More coming...

sorry if this is the wrong place to ask this, but is this app still not available for macs?  thanks!

The app is now available for Mac!

:-)

I truly love the Netflix Autoplay, especially since I finally found out how to use it! It took me a while, as I tried all the suggestions on the previous forum with no success. Backstory - I like to watch NF on the tv while I occasionally browse the net on the laptop. I use an hdmi cable to connect the two. Long story short, I was using my laptop as the primary monitor and my tv as the secondary monitor. After a few trials and errors, I found out that the program will only work on the primary monitor. This means that I have to use the tv as the primary monitor. Having the tv as the primary monitor is kind of a pain, as the task bar is distracting. Of course I can click back on the NF full-screen window to make it disappear, but when I go to use the laptop the task bar reappears. Plus, if I want to open a new window it opens on the tv, of course causing full-screen mode to revert to regular size and covering the NF show. I hate having to repeatedly manually move new windows over to the laptop. It would be great if the program could give us the choice to use the primary OR secondary monitor, instead of just the primary. Other than that, this is the best thing that could ever happen to Netflix! Thanks a bunch!

Thanks for the comment and report.

I think I know the issue here. autoFlix works with multiple monitors, it just doesn't check the whole second monitor if its a different resolution.

Maybe it would be a good idea to allow the user to select which monitor to use as their primary, or even better just detect which monitor the window it on.

I'll look into this!

Love what you've done so far...very close to the idea I had to start the other thread.  :D

Something I've noticed is when a series hits the final episode of a season it won't begin the next season.  I suspect that's because the button is different so the bitmap is not the same??  Addressing that would be great.

Are ya planing to add a custom playlist-queue?  Something we can simply paste in a series of URL's for different/specific videos or episodes?  I would love to be able to do this.  Need not be complicated just a simple list of URL's (just copy the link address of the play list and paste it into either a text file or some sort of thing internal to your app).  I am betting it might be easier to create and manage the list in say, Notepad then point Autoflix at that file.  Then your app could just parse down the list whenever it detects the window reaches the end of the movie/episode...I know that's the tough part, detecting when one show ends.

But really super works and I use it all the time now, thanks...oh, it took me a while to learn the size of the custom bitmap for the button matters so you need a button capture of each size you like for watching videos.  I wrote a fast & dirty thing to swap my files if I know I am going to run fill screen or windowed so that is covered for me, a note to others  this small app is specific to my system and would not work for you.  It's a simple "batch file" so anyone can build it.

Jason,

I was going to look at the code and see if I might be able to help with more coherent suggestions or even some sample code for a few things I am sure the project can use.  I know everyone's time is tight these days so even just seeing the code might have helped advance what now seems to be a totally stalled or abandon app.  Why are the source files not listed on the project's repository?

Or are ya just on "summer break"... ;) I miss those days of decades past when summer was for recharging the batteries.  :D

Even if using some non-open source libs the primary source should be there, for user peace of mind if no other reason.  To be candid, I am now somewhat less comfortable with using this utility given this level of obfuscation.  Just an oversight?  Or more likely I just did not find the download.  Even the "read only for non-members of the project" shows nothing at all.

Hey Joe, sorry for the delayed reply.

I actually just finished a big project at my job, left my job, and moved. So I have a lot more time to work on my projects now.

I'm going to try to get a new version out today...

So stay tuned!!

(summer break starts now)

As promised,

autoFlix 1.8b1

Test it out and let me know how it works.

Hey Jason, been a while!

FYI: I'm no longer at this time using a PC to watch stuff; I got me an 'droid.

hey i tried installing this but have no luck having it to work. Does this work w/ windows xp or only vista and 7?

How about Auto play to the next episode... it be nice if they can add a play all episodes so it automatically goes to the next episode in the series...

do you know if this exists?
