since a new Microsoft update, I am unable to watch anything on netflix. Every time i try it keeps going to a screen saying I need to meet the system requirements.

This list includes:

  • Windows XP with Service Pack 2, Vista or Windows 7
  • Internet Explorer 6.0 or higher; or Firefox 3 or higher; or Chrome 7 or higher
  • 1.2 GHz processor
  • 512 MB RAM

I personally use Xp service pack 2, latest Firefox and Chrome, 2.4 Ghz processor, and have 4.00 GB of ram. I pass all of the requirements and yet I still have no success. I Have tried re-installing silverlight, with no success. both chrome and firefox doesn't work. the only other thing I could think of is the Microsoft update, but i have no idea on how to change any of that.

If you know which update it was, look at the MS Knowledgebase article and see what that update was supposed to fix.  Another thing to check is to make sure you're running the latest version of Silverlight, which I think is 5 or 6.  If you have system restore turned on, you can restore your system to the state is was before the update, then go into MS Update and hide that update so it doesn't install again.

"Go to this page and see if lowering the stream settings helps. https://movies.netflix.com/HdToggle (I have it on "Good quality" and otherwise it would not work very well for me.) Let us know if this solution helps you."
