Netflix Movie Fans

Hi Move Fans, this is my first post here.

I've been watching Netflix.ca for about 19 months now on my Samsung Blu-Ray player. The quality and reliability has been really great. Content a bit lacking in Canada compared to U.S. of course, but there's enough to keep up interest, and if necessary I can always connect the laptop instead and watch Netflix.com if there's anything I really want to see from the U.S. site.

But a few of the quirks in the Netflix client on the Samsung Blu-Ray player have always puzzled me. I'm not talking about the usual gripes, but strange stuff that I don't understand. Like why does my Recently Watched list disappear from the interface sometimes for a day or two for no apparent reason? Or why have I never seen the experimental Instant Queue feature that some others have seen in their Samsung client.

But today I wanted to ask if anyone has an explanation of another quirk:  For many TV series that ran more than 100 episodes, Netflix seems to list only 100 episodes at a time, with some randomly missing. But at different times, a different set of 100 episodes will be listed. It's like the whole set is there, but they can only list 100 at a time. I don't know how the 100 are chosen, or whether this a policy, a technical limitation, or an accident. Could be unique to Samsung or Netflix.ca. Any ideas?

I have the same DVD player , and if you notice , all the shows show up on your computer , so I think its a Samsung problem.JMO. mine dose the same with Rockford Files and Quincy but not on the computer.

Thanks for the confirmation.

It's too bad that it's so difficult to get any direct response from Netflix about issues like this. But overall I'm not unhappy with either Netflix or the Samsung player. It's a bargain for $7.99/month, and the video quality delivered to my Panasonic plasma TV through the Samsung player is really very good. If there's a few annoying quirks, I see them as opportunities for improvement rather than deal breakers.

I have the same player and a samsung 42" 1080I hdtv. Bought the player so I would have no issues...guess what.Several little nagging issues. What you mentioned and weird ghost out lines of any command display box on tv. Change vol...displays the change gui ....goes away after change. Outline might or might not remain on screen. Same with Mute. Only happens when streaming netflix through the BD5500. Samsung denies any compatibility issues. Yeah...right! Only does it when connected to netflix. They  only want to send uploads for new junk to subscribe to. May still go the Roku/HD route. Why is transformers 1and 3 available but not 2? crazy....

I haven't seen any issue like that with left-over lines from the command display boxes. Maybe it's because there's some special interaction between the Samsung TV and the Samsung Blu-Ray player that doesn't happen with other TVs.

May be. No issues when in use by any other type media ie: dvd,cd etc menu doesn't allow turning off gui (osd). don't remember what they call it. Only way to clear the lines is to cycle tv power.
