Bright Future

After mysterious Mamoru (Tadanobu Asano) is arrested for murder, Yuji (Jo Odagiri) steps in to take care for his poisonous jellyfish and winds up uncovering his mentor's dark secrets. Obsessed with Mamoru, the emotionally stunted factory worker befriends Mamoru's father and, slowly, begins to open his eyes to reality. Kiyoshi Kurosawa directs.

The Treasure of the Sierra Madre

John Huston won Academy Awards for writing and directing this powerful saga that pits gold against greed in the wilds of Mexico. Three poverty-stricken dreamers (Walter Huston, Humphrey Bogart and Tim Holt) head to the mountains south of the border in search of gold. Their fortune and friendship grow at first, but soon, paranoia and greed begin to take over, endangering all that they've gained. Walter Huston also won an Oscar for his role.

The Shining

All work and no play make Jack a bloodthirsty boy. On the wagon after his alcoholism created family troubles, aspiring novelist Jack Torrance (Jack Nicholson) accepts a position as off-season custodian at an elegant but eerie hotel so he can write undisturbed. No sooner have Jack, his wife (Shelley Duvall) and son Danny settled in than the ominous hotel starts to wield its sinister power over father and son. …

Falling Down

Two Oscar winners star in this dark comedy by Joel Schumacher. It's a hot summer day in L.A., and Bill Foster (Michael Douglas) is having a very bad day. He's just been fired from his defense-industry job and a traffic jam is making him late to his daughter's birthday party. With his temper fraying, Foster begins walking and runs into one obstacle after another, including an overzealous cop (Robert Duvall) who's determined to bring Foster down.

Three... Extremes

Three Asian masters of horror spin twisted tales in this terrifying trilogy. Hong Kong's Fruit Chan directs "Dumplings," in which an aging actress's obsession with recapturing her youth leads to an unnatural diet. In Korean filmmaker Chan-wook Park's "Cut," a movie extra with a grudge torments a successful director. And in "Box," from Japan's Takashi Miike, sibling rivalry and jealousy reach disturbing new heights.

Seems like there's a ton of Hitchcock currently available for Instant Watchin' -- I count 13 movies and 3 seasons of Alfred Hitchcock Presents, for people who can't get enough of the puns in his introductions.

Hey, just joined this Forum and I am thoroughly excited. Netflix has recently put up their IW list and I love it. I have 109 movies in my IW list already. They are mainly docs-- nature and history--but they are great nonetheless and I can't wait to get to them. No longer do I fret when I forget to return my movies. Pale Male was one great IW option, I have a top page review on that. Another great IW option is Pan's Labrynth. So far that is the best IW option I have seen. Other great ones for more specific audiences (teenagers and young adults) are the Dorm Daze films (1 and 2) both great rat race-type films. Love them. Friend me at http://www.netflix.com/BeMyFriend/PMAzlKU61anlSDeQrlyU to see plentora of IW options off my list.

I saw Bright Future and Three Extremes on Instant. Good stuff.
A few other choices for those who like it a little demented: Fat Girl and L.I.E.
Ah, one thing I hate is when they have no subtitles. I've found quite a few movies like that on Instant. One was Murderous Maids and another Le Petit Soldat. Such a disappointment.

Chawk does look like fun, forest and I completely agree that Born Yesterday is a must see. They did a remake of it so I'm posting the link to the original (avail. on WI) so no one gets confused. The original is an award winner but in my opinion that remake was not needed.

Highly recommend the film Chalk. Oh, and Born Yesterday is available on Instant View. Everyone should watch that film!
