STAR PROFILE

july 2008: I thought of creating a secction where an actor is profiled so that we get to know them and expand our knowledge of latino actors and movies we might not know about. By profiling the actor, we can discuss their roles, movies or even facts about the movies they are in at the same time we expand our knowledge of films that otherwise we might never read about. I started with Barbara Mori.

Welcome Movie Miami. I'm sure there are a lot of films you will enjoy watching. Maybe you have some you might want to share with the group?

Welcome bming5 to the group! I thought i was the only one who like watching english films either dubed to spanish or subtitle. I have this thing where I check if the translation is the same (nerd I know). I often find that it all depends how is translated and for whom. If is for a latin american audience usually is dubbed with the Mexican accent spanish. If is for the European spanish speaking they use Spaniards and the words and cultural references are way different.
Well I hope you can all contribute to the group. If you find any of the current topics boring, feel free to add your own at any time. =)

Thanks for adding me to the group. Hope I can contribute to it. As I love foreign cinema and am always in the lookout for good Spanish films.

Welcome To everyone! There hasn't been much activity I know. And perhaps we suffer from ONLINE A.D.D., but I hope we can pick up our group. If anyone has any suggestions, ideas or hot topics, please feel free to add anything.

I was glad to find this. I am a native Spanish speaker, and I am also a Spanish teacher. I really enjoy showing Cantinflas movies to my students. Now that there are subtitles, the beginners have some chance of checking into these wonderful movies. I also love to watch DVDs where I can listen in English and read the Spanish subtitles, just to keep pumping up my Spanish literacy and cultural lingo. I recently watched Ratatouille ), and was disappointed to see that there were no Spanish subtitles. Maybe our humble group can start a motion to expand Netflix's outreach to Spanish speakers.

Hi Movie Mami, welcome to the Latino Film Maniacs group. Not much activity lately, but we can use the company, maybe you can help get something started. Look at the discussion about favorite Spanish film to see some of my faves.

I don't know how much I can contribute to this group, but I love all things Latin American and was a Spanish teacher before I had children and became a stay at home mom...I would love to be in a group that could keep me up on Latino films I could be watching!!
