here is some updated info:
The dead will walk again in Lost's two-hour season finale on May 13. Michael Emerson, who plays Ben Linus, tells me, “We see some people from the past. It keeps us speculating why certain people seem to be holding on and revisiting the living in some interesting ways.”

Terry O’Quinn--whose John Locke is one of the undead, says the finale will help explain why John, as well as Jack’s father, Christian, came back to life on the island. “Someone thought they’d be useful,” teases O’Quinn. “Someone is using Locke to their ends.”

* Also - supposedly we will see the statue from the front, and there are 2 main stories in the finale.

quotes from locke & ben via tv guide:
-O'Quinn: There are revelations about my character that are so shocking, I can't even begin to address them.
-Emerson: (in regard to Ben being apart of S6) I'm in a scene that you'll want to see the next beat of. Something is left hanging. The audience is going to be left wondering who will be on this program next season.

like your two endings w/ plane crashing again, or landing safely -= seems like something they may do. but i've also read of some sort of resolution/"redemption" for the characters too - but it would seem odd if they all got off island, in pressent time and went their way. at least to me it would.....
next season will be VERY interesting.

I think that there is a good possibility that it will end the way it began. However, I also have heard that they have an actual resolution the story. So I think there will be a little more to it than just looping around. It is possible that it could be what McAbre said, but would kind of be disappointed if that is all it ends up being.
