I was watching an old episode of lost, from seaon four, and I came across a part that I had forgotten about. The episode where Desmond is traveling through his own timeline and tries to get Penny to be his constant. In that episode, it shows Widmore at a auction. He is bidding on a journal from the Black Rock. I wrote down the scene word for word. This is the auction guy talking:
The black rock set sail from Port Smith, England on March 22, 1845 on a trading mission to the kingdom of Sian, when she was tragically lost at see. The only known artifact of this journey is the journal of the ships first mate, which was discovered among the artifacts of pirates on Lis Ann Marie, Madagascar, 7 years later. The contents of this journal have never been made public, nor are known to anyone outside the family of the seller, Tovard Hensel.
Widmore bought it for 380,000 pounds. There was a buyer on the phone we did not see, but they lost the bidding. I may have miss spelled some words in here, but hey I am not a history teacher.
This is really relevant to the story now because Richard came to the Island on the Black Rock. We are to assume that he was in chains in the lower deck of the ship. The Black Rock was a trading ship, so why there would be prisoners below deck, I don’t know. So say Richard was 40. At the time he crash landed on the Island, that would make him 200 years old in 2005, and he would have been on the Island for 160 years. That’s crazy right?
If you see any holes in any of my theories, please feel free to let me know….
