Samurai movies tend to have a certain quality about them. They're typically not chop-cheesy like kung fu movies (just so you know, I LOVE kung fu movies). There's always a sense of drama, a sense of immediacy and nobility. Samurai themselves are such wildly interesting characters. A sense of honor so extreme it's difficult for the western world to comprehend.
