Just Gus

Least Favorite Character in the whole Star Trek Universe!

We're having a good discussion of the most important character and our reasoning for our choice.

This came up as a related topic......and the winner or should I say the loser is Number 1....William Riker (IMO for me).

In that episode where he almost single-handedly gave the Federation over to this tart that he was sleeping around with....remember she had this game that you wore these glasses to play....and my second-least favorite character Wesley Crusher saves the day!
YUCK!

Riker should have been court-martialed big time!

Don't look too deeply at this image!!!!!!

Riker is at the top of my list. Back when NextGen came out I was all excited, but then came DS9, Voyager, and Enterprise. Suddenly I found myself Putting NextGen at the bottom of my list of favorite shows, just because I could not stomach Riker. I guess if I had to pick a second runner up it would be a tie between two doctors Bashir, and the doctor who replaced Beverly Crusher that one year. Crusher and Deanna were always my favorite NextGen characters and then when Beverly left I just could stand her being replaced by some old hag. I'm afraid I would also have a lame excuse for Bashir too, he just looks like a tall weasel to me. I hate to sound superficial but I just don't think he is goodlooking like some people do.

Wesley!!!! But Riker is a close second. I always understood why he never got his own command during the entire seven years! :-)

I went to a ST convention during the first season of NextGen. At one point we were in a large convention room and they were putting up slides of the show and characters. Wesley's picture came up on the screen and suddenly there were hundreds of voices chanting "Kill the kid!" That was actually kind of creepy! :-)

Isn't amazing how so many people have the same kind of reaction to a character! I understood why they introduced a character like Wesley...it helped develop Picard. Former love interest has a kid. Kid is on the ship...he symbolizes all the families. The presence of kids irks Picard....etc. It sets up the episode where Picard becomes a kid again with the other crew members (Ensign Ro and Guinan, etc.)

But Wesley really IRKED me and it appears countless others, too!

Another thing that gets me is how they (the creators of the subsequent series) when they got a chance to make movies, screwed the pooch so badly!

It was almost like they didn't get the appeal of the series they created.

What I mean is this...the movies undersell the show's true virtues...a vision of the future and teamwork....I hated the episodes where it was android saves the day with the help or no help from 1 other crew member. It seemed like such an easy/lazy way out for the writers.

The best ST movies have a team effort that gives us hope for humanity!

Don't get me wrong I love DATA...he's one of my favorite characters of all time or any genre....but when he's used as a plot wild card to save the Enterprise's collective ass, he's less than the sum of his components and so is the series and the franchise.

I'm actually surprised by the answers. I love Riker and Wesley. I had trouble even thinking of somene to fit all time most hated. I was going to copy Dr. Pulaski, but then I remembered Odo's female species member that was in charge. I don't have a clue what her name is, but I couldn't stand that character.

Weasel Crusher, Neelix, and Kes after they ruined her character by giving her psychic powers. As far as Beverly being replaced by some old hag... Isn't one old hag as good as the next?

I liked Neelix but I was never fond of Kes. Her character was so boring. Maybe that was why they added the psychic stuff. Anyway, the series was much improved with the addition of Seven of Nine.

I liked Kes but Seven of Nine was an excellent addition to Voyager, it certainly seemed to be a turning point for the show. When Seven joined the show got more exciting, more adventerous with alot more action instead of all the character developements shows which to me are so boring
