I remember watching an animation which I think was from abount the late 70's or to the mid 80's. It started like Jack and the beanstawk i think, but with a girl who climbs the beanstawk and meets some mice who i think work in the castle. These mice use to be human but were turned into mice by an evil witch type woman who lives in the castle with her giant son. The only other thing I remember is that the woman trys to put the girl under a spell to marry her son. In the end the girl defeats the old woman who gets stepped on by her giant son, it turns out that the old woman was a robot. The mice are turned back into humans. The girl then is chaced down the beanstawk by the giant. There was singing in it as well but thats all I can remember of this film. Hope someone can help. Cheers

I know of a movie that matches your description on everything except for there is not a girl who climbs the beanstalk, there is a main female part and her name is Princess Margaret but everything else matches perfectly, it is a crazy and bizarre 1974 Japanese anime called Jack and the Beanstalk believe it or not.

The Giants name is Tulip by the way, I always get a kick out of that.  This was originally a Japanese anime and when it was released in America in 1976 it was changed quite a bit from what I have been told.

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0074705/

And this is available on Netflix.

Thanks, thats the one. I was starting to think I made it up. Completly forgot the boy and dog. Be great to watch again. Cheers! ;-)
