Netflix Movie Fans

I don't remember much but here goes. I watched this movie in the early 70's. There is a rocket ship (I believe) that is flying around the earth and once it passes everything behind it melts. One scene has a father and son or daughter playing in the snow and this ship passes over them and the whole area turns to molten rock. I know that it is not "When Worlds Collide". Sorry but this is all that I remember. Thanks for any help.

I'm still trying to figure this out. I wish that I knew more.

It was "RODAN" (1956)--when Rodan begins to fly, he hits supersonic speeds causing things to melt as he passes by. I do recall the scene you recall with a Father and his daughter on a snowy slope, ducking and covering as Rodan flies overhead. They are killed by his fiery wake.

Wow, that's a great guess!

I was thinking in terms of rocket-ships and missiles, but never thought of a flying monster achieving supersonic speeds.

Well, that is correct about Rodan, though he sorta knocks stuff down more he than incinerates. There is almost exactly the same scene in The Lost Missile. I dismissed Rodan because the OP did not mention a giant monster. In The LM, the rocket burns, melts, and flames everything in its path as it flies over.

It's too bad that the OP didn't specify whether the film was in color (Rodan) or b/w (Lost Missile).

Yes! Or it was a Japanese monster movie, too! :)

that would help--but aren't all fuzzy memories B/W? ;)
