It is an older (70's maybe) movie, and starts with a white man with long hair walking out of the ocean. He is rather meak, soft spoken, and mild mannered. He stroles through town, making friends everywhere. The town's people give him food, clothing and shelter. They are drawn to him, and follow him everywhere. But then he says it is time for him to leave, and confides that he was just there temporarily from the future, to find out what happened to his brother. He has determined that he needs to go another 2000 years back in time, and then walks back out into the ocean.

WOW! Great premise... Sorry but not in my memory bank. BUT I'll B following this link to get the answer...so I can Netflix it right after U!
Joni, I added Joshua to my Queue 'cause it sounds like a good movie, but no that's not the one. I do not remember him having his hair cut, and the picture shows someone with short hair. Plus, I don't remember having an anchorwoman or even tv sets. The setting was somewhere where they still hung their laundry out and seems like the houses were adobe. Good try though, I can see why you thought that one might be it.
Anyone else have an idea?
Did the guy have special powers and wore an amulet around his neck?
I don't believe so, but it's been a long time ago, and I'm getting old :)
Te Sailor Who Fell From Grace with the Sea?
No, the description of your movie sounds like it takes place in the U.S. In the movie I'm looking for, I remember it looked like it took place in Indonesia or someplace where they don't even have a phone system.

"You're Welcome. I was surprised that I was able to add it in a larger sized movie viewer. You ever wonder how many oddball families and little groups there are out there. Maybe it's better that we never find out."
