Netflix Movie Fans

Hi all, I recently saw an advertisment on TV about a "buy it now on DVD" movie. I didnt catch the whole thing but the movie was about a submarine in space.
Does anyone know more about it?
I did some searches for it but only found an old B&W film.
Thank you.

About 10 or 15 years ago there was a foreign scifi cartoon show (unfortunately I can't remember the name or the channel it appeared on) which was set on a futuristic looking submarine that cruised in outer space--I saw a few episodes--but don't remember much about it I'm afraid.
I earlier mentioned seeing a cartoon about 15 years ago about a submarine in space--I NOW have the accurate information! It was Japanese Anime' titled--"STARBLAZERS"!
It debuted in 1974. There is a wikipedia entry you can see that will give you the lowdown.
Thank you very much for the reply. That must have been what the advertisment was about. I'll check it out.
Star Blazers was indeed a neat anime cartoon. I just watched the beginning episode a few days ago, although I think the ship wasn't a sub, but a battle-like ship, the Argo. (I could be mistaken too.) At any rate neat ideas, colored very well, and good plots. I think there are three seasons. The first season arc: Iscandar, was to find a technology that was Earth's only hope in reversing contamination (I think against radiation that was created by the Gamilon bombings). They were to go to Iscandar to find it. They also had space battles and fights against the Gamilons. There was also a R2-D2 like robot in it called IQ-9 or Tin Wit.
I loved me some Star Blazers...I rewatched the first series just about a year ago.

I'm a fan of the more lofi anime of that era, especially the "Force Five" series featuring giant mechas that used to play on children's morning TV waaaaaay back in the early 80s. It included Starvengers and Grandizer. Always caught an episode right before school!
Pihk, lofi anime, I think that's a good way to describe them. I don't know if it has to do with going back to the 80's, remembering part of your teens or whatever, but there's a certain feel to those cartoons. I also like those early Gigantor robot cartoons with the clunky theme song :) .
Definitely a nostalgia thing for me, although my older self also loves the surreal elements introduced by the limited animation, especially in facial expressions.

I even had the action figure at one point. Should have kept it, it's probably worth a nice chunk of change today.
Pretty cool, I can see how that might excite a young SF fan, I do love those older graphics. Are you experienced? :)
