the HD stream is not only 720p, but highly compressed. a Blu Ray disc will of course look better. That said, the HD stream is a big step up from the sd stream and I'm happy they support it :)
unfortunately, the only way to tell if it's in HD is to see if it's in the HD section under "grenres". They really should display "HD" in the movie's page, or in the search results.
