I heard of Andrei Rublev. Now I have to try it. I don't mind slow paced films as long as they are intentionally poignant.
Speaking about slow paced and poignant film, I recently saw Kandahar. It doesn't have much of a story but it is a very vivid and pointed film about life in Afghanistan.
Ditto on TDLV, I also need to watch it again. Saw it once, and still couldn't write my review yet.
I am not familiar with Tarkovsky... what would you recommend on him?
WKW films, the ones I really like, are sensory films. In The Mood For Love and My Blueberry Nights are prime examples. The story is not complicated, but the visual and the music are fabulous. 2046 is rather complicated. It is best watched after watching In The Mood For Love - its sequel. It's acrtually a trilogy, the first installment is Days of Being Wild. It's only okay in my opinion, I like it because it completes the picture with the other two movies.
Oh men, I can talk about Kieslowski for forever. Have you seen The Double Lives of Veronique??? How about Heaven??
Blue is my most favorite of the three, Red comes in close second. White I like the least. I have to rewatch The Decalogue. There is just so much in there and 10 hours of Kieslowski is really taxing my brain.
Any chance you like some of Wong Kar Wai films??? I don't like his gangster movies like Fallen Angels and Chungking Express, but I do love In The Mood For Love and 2046, oh and My Blueberry Nights as well.
Hi Doug, welcome to the community. By any chance, the Blue you're referring to in your set of faves, is that Blue from The Tricolor Trilogy??? If so, awesome, I am a huge Kieslowski fan myself.
