About Me:
I am semi-retired and have love to watch, as well as review, good film. Essentially, I watch for escape; the better the acting, editing, directing, cinematography, the easier it is to "escape." There is nothing better than a good film, and nothing worse than a bad film!

"I love to Write Reviews"

I have always loved the craft of writing, so I make efforts to post the best reviews that I can. There is a "high" revising the reviews over and over until I get it right, And, hopefully, it will resonate with the reader. Writing reviews makes me focus on the film all the more. It is not uncommon for me to spend a full day, then come back the second day as I "hear" my work aloud, for a better perspective.

When I am not writing film reviews, I love to write haiku -- Here are just a few:

pebbled path -
a red wagon filled
with soda bottles

moonlight swim -
her hair lengthens
with the first stroke

the slow turn
of a barber's pole -
afternoon heat

Sorry to reply to your comment this late. I was traveling and did not have access to the Internet all the time. Why do I choose Netflix as the case to study? Well... I was very impressed by the fact that the content of their website is primarily bottom-up user-generated. And I was intrigued by people's efforts on reviewing movies on the website for other users. A large community of film reviewing/critiquing seems to be forming on the website though recently I learned that some people are not entirely satisfied with their community feature. Well.... I shoudn't say too much about my rationale, assumption, or direction of the research in order to get more authentic feedback now and in the future. In any case, I may send you my questions to you later since I sense you are a good informant for the study. :)

Film Grrrl has seen TtV -- several times -- and it's a Film Grrrl Fave. (FG has reviewed it, too, on NF) FG esp. likes Miss May, which is saying much given that Miss Hawes is in the film. Kisses, FG.

I hope they ask ME for my opinions! I've only recently even watched Netflix (personal health crisis interrupted everything in my life -- duodenal ulcer of the most painful kind) so I haven't been involved. It's time to wade into it again ... thanks for the heads up!
