What I Snack on in Movie Theaters
I almost never go to theaters (made an exception for "Sweeney Todd"). When I go, I don't snack -- and I try not to sit near people who do.
About Me:
I recently moved from Las Vegas to Grover Beach -- and then chased a job to Eagle Rock, an unlikely copse of old wilderness in an old part of Los Angeles near Glendale and Pasadena, and home of Occidental College (a tiny, excellent liberal arts school where Obama was a student before transferring east). Amazingly, the sound of the Ventura Freeway sounds just like the ocean ...
Howdy, pardners. I found this useful ...

Hi Gal, I'm ecstatic to see you in the TCM group. I'm unfortunately banned from the other classics group, so this is my alternative. At any rate, welcome aboard and thanks!

Totally missed your May 22 comment. If you haven't already seen it, "Burn After Reading" is not as funny as either "Hudsucker Proxy" or "Raising Arizona;" the latter is in my top ten, so it's very hard to displace.

Thanks for the lovely compliment! The sentiment is returned -- I always pay attention when I see a review from Opinionated-Gal. We do not always agree, but I value your opinion. For Dear Zachary, make sure you have your hanky handy!

Thank you for your comments. I have had such a hard time with my admiration for that movie, in particular-recently. I spoke recently to co-worker who had seen it, and hated it. And, couldn't understand why I would ever give it a positive review. Now, besides the reasons stated in the review... I just really felt like I had been there, and witnessed firsthand the story evolving from the screen. It's as if the movie pulls you in, and you're a part of it. Which I truly admired. I'm not such a big fan of hand held cameras, or even improv. But, the enviroment and the people made that story for me, appealing. I'm glad someone else saw it differently as well. It's unique-sort of Woody Allenesque (is that even a word?). Anyway, thanks again!

I've tried to use the chat bar many times. I would say I have a plethora of failure. I'm going back to St. Louis tomorrow, so there's no saying what I'll watch. My youngest brother is a published critic (unpaid) - online and off - so he gets boxes of screeners and early releases about once a month. He specializes in foreign film, so Film Movement always sends him a stack. 'Burn After Reading' is the kind of thing I like because I'm a sucker for the Coen brothers and Mamet but I couldn't give it more than 4 stars. I was disappointed by the misuse of so much talent; you'll see what I mean. 'Frozen River' is one of those indies that's in my queue for award status. As for Bergman, I refuse to watch him on purpose. Undoubtedly I've seen his films, but I want to pretend I haven't and watch all his work chronologically.

As for "So You Think You Can Dance?" and "Real Housewives of New Jersey", I might like to pretend I'm above that sort of entertainment, but no one is. Despite all our pretension and bluster, we're all human beings; we love the spectacle of what the Germans call Schadenfreude...delight in the misery of others.

There I was about to say it looked like you were trying to do some serious posting so I was going to leave you alone. Then you talked about Moms. Does the chat thing even work?
