What kind of 'message board for longer notes and communications was she looking for? Forming a group might be a good way to go... or she simply looking to leave announcements about some kind of topic?
Notes... as in movie notes?
I have kept some of the options on DorkyCool inactive [for now] b/c I didn't want people to start to create groups over there that compete with the ones on this site. The whole point was to be a facilitator for this site.

But I'll let you in on a little secret ... The portal first started out as my personal Sci-Fi idea, but then I expanded it to be larger b/c the need for a user-friendly Netflix directory exists.
However, I haven't entirely abandoned the original idea. I've been speaking with gingersnapcookie (she's on the DorkyCool directory site too) about using some of the other features on the site to design a really cool Sci-Fi site with links to all kinds of stuff.
I have been brainstorming about such things as highlighting member lists and reviews. Maybe even compiling a directory of Sci-Fi reviews.... For example, a user could click on a title and read only those reviews posted by our DorkyCool members; there would be a link to vote 'helpful'. It could be a cool way to form a Sci-Fi posse, help each other out with reviews, and also know we are reading reviews from other people that are real Sci-Fi fans.
If you are interested, you can certainly conspire with us -we really haven't even started anything yet (I've been so busy setting the directory site up).

The way it worked for me is- I entered in the same email I did on this site and the same password. Then the site recognizes the profile I already have and transfers it.
If you would like to create one of the genre-profiles, you can change your name and avatar after you have signed in using your existing Netflix persona. The site will still recognize that it is you and connect you to the friends you have in common across the network.
I was also able to create another profile my entering in a new email address and a new password.
I hope that resolves the problem you are having...
As I have been working on this site, it has given me an opportunity to teach myself more about photoshop (I knew almost nothing) and HTML (I pretty much knew nothing).
I'm glad you like it, i'm having fun and learning a lot at the same time. :)

I thought you might be interested in the newly created Sci-Fi Portal.

It has actually evolved into a larger effort to help organize and promote all the netflix groups in a more user friendly way. We are still in the beginning stages, but you can take a look at the main page to see what we are up to

I got a friend invite from you the other day which I tried to accept -but the was some kind of glich on Netflix saying I had over 50 friends (which I don't).
Anyhoo, I sent you an invite back with a warning that I don't consistanly send movie notes ...although I have been online more lately. So, I don't mind if you don't add me but I just wanted you to know that I didn't reject you! :)
