About Me:
Relatively new to film appreciation. Became interested a couple of years ago around Oscar time. I decided to watch all of the nominees for Best Picture to see if I agreed with the winner and I have been hooked ever since. I rely heavily on suggestions by community members with similar tastes to mine and have not been disappointed. I have really begun to enjoy foreign films and love being a member of that group! always interested in new friends! Also looking for a group interested in Drama in general.

I've been watching classic movies for about 7yrs. I got into them when my son was a baby and there was nothing else to watch during the 4am feedings. Lol

I'd be surprised if your local store does have Viva Zapata. I don't know if it's officially on DVD anywhere in our region.

I live in a metropolitan area, but even my library system only has only one old VHS copy of it. If I didn't have it on laser disc I'd be shit outa luck.

However, the fact that it's going to be on TCM -- for the first time -- is a heartening sign. That sometimes happens before a DVD is issued.

So make sure you get hold of the TCM broadcast.

The Professor started the TCM thread, but asked me to take over when he had to attend to personal business.

My pick-fives are not always what I think are the best of the month. More often than not they're just the films that I feel like writing about at the moment.

But this month don't miss Viva Zapata on the 26th.

If you really wanna make yourself sick on my recommendations you might pass a few hundred spare hours on some sites established by Just Gus -- as, for example, his various western threads and the thread devoted to highlighting favorite all-time performances.

There you'll find reviews and tips galore. On the "performance" thread I tried to soften my pomposity by peppering my text with stills from the films. So you'll at least have the pleasure of seeing some pictures while you denounce me for my asshole opinions.
