You certainly have some very valid points. I wouldn't recommend our system to everyone but it seems to work for us. The movie recommendations we get from NF are as varied as our family but when the recommendation is a movie that doesn't appeal to ...
Perhaps a better explanation would be that my ratings can represent my recommendations for its target audience! If you're going to even look at the Barbie movies, I'm assuming you are considering the film for someone in the target audience.

I hesitate to jump in here, but I'm going to take a chance. :-)
It would be impossible to find a rating system that would universally tell each of us exactly what to expect from a movie. We're just too different. My five stars even differs drasti...
You can also choose a topic and make a similar list since we all have such diverse likes and dislikes. My list on comedies would be decidedly different from others in the community. When searching lists I look at those whose movie choices seem sim...
Sorry,
My husband and I just got back from two weeks in Hawaii. Total break from movies and NF (except for an unfortunate viewing of Ghosts of Girlfriends Past on the plane). Now I need to catch up my laundry and dusting and then maybe I'll marath...

My reviews have been targetedfor quite awhile by some group who flagged me with an inapprpriate language spoiler. Several of my friends have had multiple reviews removed for this. I do not ever use any inappropriate language much less write it. They are just trying to get me off the front page so they can move up. I work very hard at my writing and the fact that NF does not even read the review before they pull it makes me angry because a group of people can falsely target people and get away with it.
Thanks for your concern,
Cheryl
As a member of the "Reviews That Aren't Reviews", we would like to hear from you and to please give us your input, as we haven't heard from you yet, and in order to make it easier for everyone who is a member of the group, we need to put to a vote the following:
If you feel that 500 total reviews is a comfortable number to "swim through" when checking to see if a review is still on the original MDP, moved to another page or been removed then please vote that you agree. If you feel that if the total were less, and that would make it easier to contribute, then please reply with what you feel is a comfortable maximum.
Bronze strings give off a bright sound where steal strings give off a more mellow sound. GHS strings have been a good choice for beginners especially on electric. (They are easy on the fingers) Get a 9 gauge for electric guitar. I also found that the electric guitar for beginners tends to keep their interest up longer since it has a distortion sound from the amp, and the strings and neck are easier to get used to. Acoustic is a great beginners tool for a dedicated guitarist. Alot of folks have been weeded out because of the challenge the acoustic brings to beginners. I got started out with an electric and by the time I grabed an acoustic it was all 2nd nature. Now I practice on an acoustic all of the scales and runs so now when I pick up the electric my fingers can float up and down the neck without much effort since I had previously practiced on a more challenging acoustic. Fender guitars are great for a clean jazzy/blues sound (most have single coil pick ups) and if your in to a Stevie Ray Vaughn approach/sound, you can opt for Texas Special pick ups.
Most Gibson guitars have Humbucker pick ups and give off more of the classic rock sound. Jackson and Ibenez guitars give off more of a metal/ crunchy sound and are set ready to rock to Metallica, Megadeth and Steve Via type of playing. Either way there are many combo packs avail out there with an amp and guitar for less than 200.00. When you discover your young one is on their way to another level of playing, then reward them with a nice guitar. By then they will have more of an understanding of their instrument and will know what they want. Make sure that the guitar is in good shape and that the neck is not warped. Have someone with you that knows something about guitars and can play one fairley well so they can test it out at the shop. Hope this helped.
Thanks for the visit. LOL.....yeah, I have a diverse Q for sure. Thats great that your son has an interest in the guitar, i started young and did not have the resources that are out there today. Its amazing how many instructional discs there are out there now. I have a younger one that has taken an interest in the guitar so I'm getting refresher courses with these guitar series discs, and anything else I think will help them get the most out of it. What style of music is he interested in right now? I found that it is important for young beginers to learn the basics "based" on what type of music they are interested in just to keep their interest level up (as to not get discouraged when those fingers start hurt from practice) I will be more than happy to recomend some lessons that will get him going in no time. Just respond back with what style of music he is into.
Thanks for the fave. I've faved you in return. Event/blockbuster films have been something that I have enjoyed since I was a tween. They're the sole reason why I still bother to go to my local cineplex. There's just something about watching those in a big screen.
How do you manage with the rental choices of your account? I could imagine that you and the family have different thoughts and ratings about film choices. Multiple profiles?
Twilight is interesting in that I didn't know how big it was, let alone exists a few months ago. If I went into it blind and not knowing about its weaknesses, I most likely would have hated it.
Do you know of any B&W epics like KoK? It's just impressive from scenes like the casting of sins/demons, the temptation of Jesus of the devil. Heck, even the fishing part was a nice humorous addition.
I'm about an hour and a half through it. It is very engaging and expertly crafted (editing, SFX, exquisite sets, and cinematography). I have only see middling B&W comedies and melodramas so my standards might be low. Nonetheless, I'm in awe of it. In addition, the deviation from the original material ( May Magdelene "fighting" for the attention of Judas, lol) had me raising my eyebrows! I'm glad I recorded it.
I'm glad you enjoyed my review. I don't normally write long reviews! I just clicked helpful on your two "King of Kings" reviews.
I just cam across your "King of Kings" review when I wrote mine. It looks like we watched the same TCM broadcast. Well, it took me a while to get to watch the recorded films
BTW your rank is rather odd considering the number of reviews you have (and most of them are not popular titles). The new rank formula is weird.
