"Dear Sev: Let's just agree that NOBODY knows exactly when the plays were written.  The Stratfordian dates are assumptions, just as the Oxfordian dates are, and your beliefs are no more valid than mine.  You said you wanted to know…"

"Hmmm... so OTHER people spelled his name as "Shakespeare" but HE signed it "Wllm Shakper" and apparently pronounced it as "Shackspeare" when someone else made out his will for him.  I certainly won't dispute…"

"Respected sir: why would you doubt my accuracy when you were merely asking for an opinion?  I judge the civility of the Ogburns by their careful use of language, just as I judge the incivility of the ad hominem attacks by their vitriolic…"

"My excellent Shakespeare professor (a staunch Stratfordian, BTW) told us students decades ago that the purpose of the history plays was to encourage patriotism among Englishmen so they would put their country first, ahead of their religion. …"

"If that is a real question, I can answer truthfully that the Ogburns were VERY civil in their books.  The incivility with which they were ATTACKED, however, shows not only a lack of scholarly objectivity but a questionable and uncalled-for…"

"I agree that the character of Oxford was not well developed, as it should have been.  I attended a seminar about the movie, and one of the valid criticisms voiced there was that we didn't get to see the witty, playful side of Edward de…"

About Me:
I love movies of all kinds except horror or movies with bad scripts. As an English professor I know a lot about drama and how it has changed over the past few decades. I'm also a Shakespeare buff and have researched the authorship issue since 1984, after reading the book The Mysterious William Shakespeare: The Myth and the Reality, by Charlton Ogburn Jr. I loved the movie Anonymous and want to recommend it.
