Life has gotten much better. We got POWER last night, 6 days without makes you really appreciate how comfortable our lives are on a normal basis. No damage to anything, well one casualty was all my perishable food. Being 75 miles NW from Galveston offers a small amount of protection. Granted Ike liked to destroy power I hear Ohio has 1 million without power and Kentucky I think had several hundred thousand doing without. Not to mention heavy damage done to several other states, Arkansas and Missouri to just name a few.

Anyone from this area I hope that you and yours stayed safe and that you have no damage or little. As devestating as the storm was so many pulled together to try and live in the aftermath. For every one bad story about looters and selfishness there were several stories of sharing generators, neighbors feeding each other and of strangers stopping and helping clear debris. It makes me proud to call the Houston area my home. I wish everyone luck in returning to a normal life again.

Thank god you are safe ! Hurricanes have trashed FL. in the last few years. We had 5 in one year. If you haven't lived through one ,you have no idea what it is like. Long live slappy!!!!

This far inland gives some protection but we have downed trees, some split some completely uprooted. There are homes with trees in the living room all over town, siding ripped off, roof damage... Being inland just gives you the security from the storm surge, and we get 10-20 mph off on the winds give or take. I am glad to hear that your family didn't suffer from this either.

Hey Chica, I'm so happy to hear you and yours are doing okay after Ike. I was wondering if something happened since you haven't been online. I have family in Katy and Sugarland and thankfully they are all doing fine also. I heard it was mostly downtown Houston that got the worst of it? Good to have you back online, and again, great news that you didn't suffer too much damage.
