Marvel on film

After seeing "Iron Man" last weekend, I went out to buy a couple of books - aside from watching movies, I like to buy books. I got "Essential Marvel: The Official Handbook of the Marvel Universe" Vol. 1 and a newly published book on the history of "Iron Man." I haven't had time to properly read the "Iron Man" book, which is a glossy dream, let me tell you, but I've thumbed through the "Essential Marvel" quite a few times.
My conclusion is that Marvel kicks backside. Aside from the blunders that are the "Fantastic Four" films, and they are BAD, I have really enjoyed many of the movies based on Marvel characters, especially "The X-Men," "Spider-Man," "Daredevil," and, naturally, "Iron Man," which I think is my all-time favorite superhero flick. I think the only character that I like from DC Comics is Batman, and he's too cool to be in that group of squeaky clean, do gooders.
I'll admit that I watched "Wonder Woman" when I was a wee one, but "Superman" has never really tripped my trigger. I probably also watched the Super Friends, but I can't apologize for what I did as a child, can I? Having glanced over "The Avengers," I think that Marvel Productions, or whatever the company is called, should start a franchise of films about these guys. The first movie I want to see is one with all of the masked women, including Scarlet Witch (well, technically she has only a strange M around her head), Hellcat, Ms. Marvel, Captain Marvel, Mockingbird and Firebird. Hell, throw in She-Hulk for good measure. After looking at the image of Tigra, I already have her cast with Caprica 6 from "Battlestar Galactica." Firebird looks like that girl from "The Messengers," although I can't stand her.
Oh well, until that dream gets realized, I guess I'll just have to be patient for a bunch of what seem to be kick arse superhero films, including "The Hulk" and "Wolverine." I'm pretty sure that "Iron Man" will be back in a sequel, and, of course, there will undoubtedly be a new "Spider-Man" film. And I think I read an early "X-Men" film about Xavier and Magneto, the early years.

Hey.

I dug on Iron Man too. Oddly, I didn't have the same result. Rather than being driven to read (and a book for that matter--that's just shocking!), I went to drink beer with my buddy. Would you call this the antithesis of sitting down with a good book?

And do go trying to deny that you put your mom's bracelets on and pretended that you could block bullets with those suckers! It's okay. I certainly can't deny that I tied a red towel around my neck and whooshed around like the man o' steel.

Anyway, I'm glad you reached out to me for us to be friends.

Thanks.

Ha ha. OH the bracelets, YES. I came out of Raiders of the Lost Ark, and immediately wanted a fedora and whip. I have that kind of reaction to films, which is dangerous. After recently watching "Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift," I spent the next day wanting desperately to throw my car into 180 degrees.

No, unfortunately. Sorry it took me so long to reply.
