Netflix New Releases Page

I am not at all happy with Netflix relentless quest to figure out what they think I want to watch. Just show me the movies and let me decide. The new New Releases page is terrible. Why can I only see 8 or so new releases? Where is the big list? I don't care what you think I want to see, or what people who are living around me are watching, or what was popular a YEAR ago. Stop micro-managing people's interests and just show the stupid movies!

Sam— If enough people agreed with you they might make the change. But apparently the majority of NF users like the recommendations.

The new releases page is like gas prices, it ain't changing back to what it once was. It is addressed in the FAQ, and has been discussed to death on here.

That hidden new release page is never complete or accurate. It's like they only choose certain ones to put on there or something. Like "No Country For Old Men " was never put on there but others you've never even heard of are on there. The really popular movies seem to never make that list before or even after they are released. "Charlie Wilson's War" was released last tues... it's not there. I guess everyone would clamor more for only new releases if they had a page updated weekly with only new stuff coming out that Tues but I still wish they had one like that.

Insideroom. The old Releasing This Week Page does show what Netflix is adding to their inventory that week. Sometimes a movie is released on a day different than Tuesday and is not on that list but other than those rare times the page is comprehensive.

Charlie Wilson's War released on 4/22 and was on the Old Releasing This Week page that week. No country for Old Men was released on 3/11 and it was on the old RTW page for that week.

I'm talking about this Releasing This Week page. It is updated on Sunday for the DVDs coming out on Tuesday. If you are saying these new releases are not on a page maybe you mean the slider "Popular New Release Page" that replaced the old one last December. Charlie Wilson's War and NCFOM will be on that one when they are no longer on a wait list. Look for them next year under "Most Popular DVDs from One Year Ago".

CHawk... No, we are talking about the same page. I guess I am wrong but I really didn't think this page was comprehensive. I am getting confused over this now LOL.

Thank you for posting the link .. however, now I have to ask how do you get to this page without using this posted link? I don't see the link from the "new releases" slider page and can't find it anywhere else.

Thank,

Jack

You can only get to it from the link posted above.

That link is the old page that Netflix took off the site last December. There is no direct link anywhere on the Netflix site now to that page.

In December, a Netflix employee (at the time) posted it to the old blog and it is still listed there but you should just bookmark it because we never know when that might come down or when NF might stop updating it.

CHawk thank you so much for that link! I just joined and have been looking everywhere for the 'real' New Releases list. Why would they take something so basic down??

I hate to say this but apparently that has nothing to do with it. I've rated thousands in the 7 years I've been a member and now I'm getting some of the stupidest recommendations I've ever seen. Because I liked Shrek...Eddie Murphy's Raw. Because I liked Sweeney Todd (which I haven't seen) and Across the Universe...High School Musical and Disney's The Jungle Book. Because I saw (and hated) I Am Legend...Ice Spiders. The system is even worse now than it used to be. I've stopped rating films as of yesterday because of these changes, and I've decreased my membership from 3 to one unlimited until I can find something better.

or what was popular a YEAR ago

I KNOW!!?! WHAT is UP with THAT!?!?
If Netflix was selling fresh milk, do you think they'd be allowed to get away with that BS?...Heck no.

just show the stupid movies!

You said it, buddy. You said it.

Yeah, everybody knows that movies sour after 3 months.

just show the stupid movies!

Actually I wish Netflix would require an IQ test of all customers, and stop showing movies to the stupid.

As I've said in the last 20 threads on this topic, putting a full list of new releases under every member's nose would cause every yahoo with no conception of what movie they want to see to load up their queue with new releases.

This would create a false demand for every new release, and make it harder for people really interested in a specific new title to get that title into their mailbox.

Now here's the part that offends people -- I think that people who want such a list are campaigning for something that is opposed to their own self-interest, and that they are severely lacking in brains.
