Most Recently Overrated Movies...

I was just thinking the other day that there are a lot of movies lately that have been getting good reviews and lots of hype, but have turned out to be complete crap. I was just curious to see some movies that you would add.

Here are a couple of mine...

The Good Shepherd
The Assassination of Jesse James

I do have to say about the original thread post that although it's just dandy with me that everyone has their own opinions about Movies. I don't Think The Good Shepherd had lots of Hype or was over-rated. To me the Film seemed to barely make a blip on the radar when it came out and nobody really talked about it at all. I did like it and i don't really read too many reviews but I don't doubt that there were many good ones.

But to answer the question... my opinion from what i've watched...

There Will Be Blood ( I love PTA , but by far his worst film. )

Wait, so The Assassination of Jesse James is overrated? Cool, now I don't mind that it's been in my queue in "long wait" since it came out on DVD.

NF only has the one copy.

You know, I have waited for an eternity for "Love Ghost." It sounds stupid but I want to see it. Same goes for a few other Asian films. WTF? Why doesn't Netflix just buy another bloody copy? I have been so tired of waiting, that I've actually purchased films that I wanted to see but had to wait too long to see. Cases in point "Azumi," which NF has as SAVE; and "Citizen Dog." It makes me crazy!

Yes, I usually buy them online, from a second hand seller on AMazon.com or from eBay, although the latter is a last resort. I have bought some old rentals from Hollywood Video. I wish NF would just get one more copy if it's a long wait. I don't know too many people patient enough to wait six months for a film. For me, it's usually a spur of the moment add anyway. Half the time, I forget what's in my queue.

Juno...it was well acted, but I so don't see what all the fuss was about

I thought that No Country for Old Men was incredibly boring!

You probably needed more gore and a nice clean perfect ending.

Have you seen "Once"? Lots of good viewer reviews. To me it was a very long mediocre music video with poor photograghy and sound. Also remember "Eyes Wide Shut"? I remember the celebs coming out of the premiere raving about it. What they were really saying was "Yes! The emporer DOES indeed have clothes on!" I don't know. He looked naked to me.

Good call on Eyes. One of the saddest entries in the history of movie-making is that Kubrick went out on that piece of crud.

Eyes Wide Shut undoubtedly suffered from Kubrick's sudden demise in the editing stage. Parts of it felt like unfinished. Those digital inserts were insulting to everyone.

Still, it definitely had moments of sheer brilliance and hardly a piece of crud. I hope you didn't fall for the erotic thriller marketing. That was just Kubrick laughing at you (us).
