Mort in Detroit

Filming locations

Is anyone else irritated by Hollywood's use of Canada? Or the use of any other location?

Why don't they just say it's in Toronto or Vancouver, rather than having Toronto stand in for Pittsburgh, as in Queer as Folk, or having Victoria BC stand in for Detroit, as in In the Land of Women?

I've been to both Toronto and Pittsburgh. One is flat, on a lake, with a few square kilometres of high-rise buildings. One is very hilly (understatement), located where two rivers meet and only has a few blocks of high-rise buildings. I wouldn't consider the two interchangeable. Why didn't Showtime just say it was in Toronto?

As for substituting Victoria BC for Detroit--though I'm a native Detroiter, I think the difference should be evident. But I'll link photos for those who think the two are similar.

You have photos? Please share, you can even post them directly as a reply. I'd like to see the difference, as many others probably too.

Don't they appear when you click on the city names?

I know Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back had a bus station scene near my house. That's about it. I know alot of current Burger King commercials have been filmed near my house too.
