books on CD through Netflix, what a concept!

How does everyone feel about Netflix adding CD books to their service? It could be a separate service or just part of the number of "movies" a person can have out at a time.

I'd love to be able to get my CD books through Netflix instead of the library. It would be much more convenient and take a lot less time to receive them once requested.

If you agree, let's let Netflix know we'd like that!

that would be great, but they would probably get Scratched up too bad and not play.

This was discussed last month. The main problem is that audiobooks take up 10-40 CDs. Even abridged versions take 3-6 CDs.

If you like classics, I suggest Librivox. The have about 1500 free audiobooks you can download and play on an mp3 player or your computer. They add a few more just about every day.

Frankly I just wish the library system would get with the Netflix program and let me arrange a Q! Right now I use Amazon's wishlist to keep track of books I want to read, and then I have to look up titles in the library catalog, etc.. I would be willing to pay a reasonable membership fee for this enhanced service. *sigh*

My library has a queue. Each item has a button next to it that allows you to request that item. Then you wait until the previous person returns it, and you get notified via email once it's at your branch. But the turnover time is months from what I've seen. Especially for very popular books, and for very old books.
