Opening Musical Sequences

I don't know about others, but for me the musical score in a movie can make or break a movie. Especially specific scenes, high points and opening sequences. One example is in the movie Some Kind of Wonderful. The opening sequence is incredible for me. I find it odd that other then recordings from the actual movie, I have been as of yet unable to get my hands on a clean track preserving the incredible sound coming through on the movie mix when watching on theatre system. Listening to the link below with my cheapy earphones on my laptop just doesn't do it justice. In some ways it slightly reminds me of music I heard many many years ago from Munich Machine in the disco days if anyone remembers back that far. Did I just say disco?..........oops.....sorry. Anyways, the full version with lyrics from Propaganda is okay, but I prefer just the Instrumental from the opening sequence.....

For Your Eyes Only was a good one for me also. Bill Conti did that one. I had a thing for Sheena Easton as well...

The Austin Powers opening sequences were based on the James Bond series.
The Goldmember opening features Soul Bossa Nova by Quincy Jones.

The opening sequences of Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me and International Man of Mystery, also features Soul Bossa Nova. The first one was inspired by A Hard Days Night.

I really like both the music and imaging in the opening sequence of Bicentennial Man. I guess there's a number of reasons, two of them being that I'm a James Horner fan and I'm into science fiction and robotics. Some people complain about movie composers becoming repetative as they age, but each has a distinctive style and I don't mind hearing similarities in their pieces provided that it suits/fits the movie. To me, recognizing the composer by their distinctive style in the opening bars of music is a thrill as the movie unfolds and only adds to the experience.
