True, not once in my entire life have I run into two other people that have almost the identical movie taste as me.

My dad has made fun of me for years because of my taste in film, and finally some vindication for my sensibilities (however twisted the rest of the world may think they are). Infact when someone watches a movie in my family there are two scales, one for if it was any good and the other one is "It's one of Micro's movies."

My Dad gave me the same kind of ribbing...... he'd come into the room as I was about halfway into something and go
"......izzis onna those black n white movies with Boris Karloff??....bahh"

as if everything i watched was in Black and White and starred Boris Karloff. I was at least lucky enough to have a friend or two with similar tastes.
Some of my fondest memories are recalling some of the classics we (my friends and i) managed to get into movie theaters (and Drive ins) to see as kids...
like, at age 12 and 13 with no questions asked. renting crazy nasty and depraved vhs titles from Mom n Pop video stores was no problem back then too.
those were the days.

These are all great titles, but what about
Faster Pussycat! Kill! Kill!
Up!
Beneath the Valley of the Ultravixens

Of course, I think NF should have all the Russ Meyer films, but these would be a good start. All are available on Amazon, but if you buy directly from the Russ Meyer site before July 14 you can get discounts for buying five at a time. Hurry, Netflix!

BTW, Roger Ebert has an excellent review of Faster Pussycat!

Only one problem with that my friend, Russ Meyer films don't sell their movies for rental. This is why they currently aren't on Netflix now.

Micro = Sad.

Interesting. A local video store has them all for rental, but perhaps it's easier for them to "skirt the rules" than a national rental company. I do have the entire RM collection on VHS, but haven't yet replaced them with DVDs.

On a related note, I've noticed that a number of DVDs from NF recently, many new releases, have had the disclaimer "For home use only. Not for rental" or something similar. What does this portend?

This is usually linked to Deminsion or Weinstein Company films. They have an exclusive contract with Blockbuster for rentals but Netflix just goes to Best Buy and buys up all of their copies. (I'm kidding about the Best Buy part) But yeah that's the gist of it, Netflix does not have the rights for the rental versions so they buy the consumer version (sometimes that's good i.e. they usually have the most extras, sometimes that's bad the Blockbuster exclusives are sometimes different cuts of the film or have different extras) nutshell meet thatboy. By the way welcome to the XP group, once you go XP you never go back.

Thanks for the explanation and the welcome!

"...once you go XP you never go back."

Riiiiiiiight. Next you'll be telling me size doesn't matter.

But seriously, I spent many, many hours of my formative teen years at grindhouses and dusk-to-dawn drive-ins. My psyche was permanently altered (for the better, if you ask me). I quite delight in foisting deranged fare such as Blood Freak, Unspeakable, and The Baby upon my friends. So yes, I feel rather at home here.
