Who is your favorite Character of British comedy?

Joey, I agree that Jeff was the best character in Coupling. I loved the show except Season 4 when they replaced Jeff with that creepy guy. eeeewww Jane was also one of my favorites. The concept of her getting the attention of men by claiming to be bi-sexual, I thought, was histerical!!!

I watched all seasons on line through the Watch Instantly. I'd usually watch a couple a day but after about the first 3 I found it hard to stop watching so I stayed up way too late!

People kept telling me the series was like Friends and I had had enough of Friends so I never watched it. In my opinion Coupling is much better and far more clever than Friends.

i agree it was better and more clever than friends... in fact friends stole some story lines from coupling. (ie- joey and chandler steal a sex tape of richard and monica but then turns out it's not monica) i also agree it lost something when jeff left and oliver came into the picture.

I'd have to say there are several favorites. Here is just a few. Some of them are funny in very subtle ways but they make the show work.

Jeff: Coupling
Golly: Monarch of the Glen
Thermoman: My Hero
Duncan: Monarch of the Glen
Ambrose: Ballykissangel

Jeff from Coupling is an excellent choice. Jeff left some large shoes for Oliver to fill.

Father Ted/Father Dougal/Father Noel from Father Ted. I cannot make myself choose just one-they all crack me up for varied reasons.

Andy/Lou, Vicky Pollard, Anne on Little Britain

Lister on Red Dwarf

Of course the ABFAB girls are craaaazy funny.

I have to add one of my other favs-Hyacinth Bucket

Finally, the two guys from Bottom Eddie and Richie

Too many to choose.

Basil Fawlty, of course, followed closely by Jeff from Coupling.
