Releasing this Week section

Whiskey Tango Foxtrot? We have been waiting for the "Releasing this Week" section to be put back like it was or “made better” by Netflix. It’s been at least two months. How much longer do we have to wait? Hate the new page! Miss the "Releasing this Week" section!

I don't think we are pressing anything. We are voicing our thoughts and ideas. If Netflix has a problem with free speach then I have a problem with Netflix.

Well, I don't know about you, but I DO NOT need to be paying a company to mangage my demand for their service. At that point I pick up my bat and ball and go to another field.

The old version is only accessible by link but its still there and being maintained for now
So, exactly what is the issue then? Griping about something that could or might possibly go away in the sometime near or distant future?

If we let this drop then NetFlix may just drop the link.
Never fool yourself into thinking that harping on a community forum will change Netflix policy. They are aware of the dissatisfaction.

Spindaddydad: Netflix may be aware but it feels good to vent, this is good support. :)

I so agree with this statement!! A huge loss for me! All the old titles that I don't know are releasing and the independent category and horror! I need that stealth link!

What's the big deal? The link is readily available and provided above if you don't know it. Just bookmark (Firefox) or mark as favorite (Internet Explorer), then visit every Sunday when it changes to see if anything looks interesting to add to your queue.

Works for me. I'm just glad the page hasn't been completely removed since I use it mainly for new foreign films carried by Netflix - I have no other easy way of knowing weekly additions.

There are lots of other ways. Try Amazon, for example.

Thanks for the Amazon Tip - I really never thought to go there. It does have a complete listing with Cover Art. Only downside is you have to check with Netflix to see if they do plan to carry it in their inventory.

Amazon sorts by popularity, so Netflix almost always has the top releases in every category. The other positive is that if you find something on Amazon that Netflix doesn't have you can request it - relying only on the old RTW page you might never have heard of it.

The only reason more people are using the new "New Releases" page is because Netflix is prominently displaying and linking to it on the main menu, essentially leading people right to it by the hand. The old link to the more complete "Releasing this Week" page that actually showed the real new releases for the week (what a concept!) was rather well hidden a few pages deep into the Netflix website and you had to already know it was there in order to find it.

I don't think it's fair to compare how many people are using the new one as opposed to the old one, since they were not given the same level of priority and promotion on the Netflix website. I'm willing to bet that if the old version of the page had been as easy to find and proudly displayed as the new version, there would be many more complaints than you've already seen, and a lot more people bemoaning the loss of a useful (and in my opinion, essential) feature in exchange for something that's nowhere near as functional.

It shouldn't even be called a New Releases page because that's not what it is. For the sake of accuracy, the name should be changed to "Newish Releases" or "Movies That Came Out In The Past Few Months Or So".

I wonder why not have the releasing this week as one of the tabs that you can scroll through. I do like the new format where the image of the movie is nice and large so you can see the boxart, I just don't like what I am scrolling through. Maybe put the releasing this week as part of the drop down for the popular new releases. Wouldn't that satisfy almost everyone at that point?

I agree.
